About Flow mOcean & About me....
Flow mOcean ...... mindful immersion in fluid movement for deep fitness.
The fluid, connected moves focus on transitions, creating full body awareness, strength, suppleness and control in every possible way the body can move.
This means ease of movement in sport, work or just getting in & out of the car or emptying the dishwasher!
My idea of deep fitness is fully living in and listening to your body.....all the time, not just for an hour at the gym or when there's pain somewhere. Flow mOcean sessions are a moving meditation that encourage mindfulness, deeper breathing and the idea of nourishing your body to wellness through movement. There's a calmness and flow that comes from expanding awareness throughout the body, not just in the chatter of the head.
My life has always been about movement. I have a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance. I've enjoyed lecturing at universities, being a dancer, teacher & choreographer, school teacher and lots of different positions in the fitness industry. I've also played a lot of sport and been a surfer all my life. I usually pushed myself too hard and developed chronic injuries that were not being helped by physios/chiros etc.
I decided to heal from the inside out and began doing very minimal movements within my range of pain to strengthen and stretch what I could. I took my time & listened to my body. It felt better to move in a fluid way, focusing on my breath. Many of the concepts I had learnt and taught over the years fell away and I just kept going intuitively. This grew into Flow mOcean which keeps me strong, supple and surfing every day....at age 53. I love sharing this nourishing way of movement with others....all bodies....all ages....moving into deep fitness:)
